In December 2013 my husband and I were invited to join a lawsuit to stand up against hatred and bigotry when the Republican Party filed a lawsuit against the City of Houston and current mayor to rebuke and take away our legally married employment benefits, for the simple reason of same-sex marriage.
We joined the lawsuit along with two other couples and although we physically never stepped foot in a courtroom, our hearts, energy and emotions were with our lawyers at Lambda Legal. Over the years, our case got bounced from court to court, up to the United States Supreme Court, only to get tossed back as “there was no standing”. We wholeheartedly thank those who supported us throughout this and especially all those at Lambda Legal making this win possible. Yes, hatred and bigotry have no standing and this is another reminder of God’s love and when we stay in God’s light of pure love, love wins.
